Description

You will start at the jail where you will be given a tour of the Jail Literacy Program by Captain Sauer and OJL staff. After the tour you will drive over to the FEC to organize paperback books for the inmates enrolled in the Jail Literacy Program.  Jail Tour starts promptly at 8:30

Prior to the event you can help collect the needed supplies for our Resource Library

 Write notes of encouragement to student inmates.  They can not be sealed.

Q: Details of tools required.
A: List of materials needed by Ozaukee Jail Literacy Program. Can be gently used 2 sets of multiplication flashcards 2 sets of division flashcards Collections of poetry – Frost, Whitman, WC Williams, G. Brooks, W Stevens, A Riche, Wordsworth, Blake, Emerson, Rossetti – any collections. Believe it or not, students read poetry Word Search books – students love these. 10 boxes of Kleenex Lots (100+/-) of composition notebooks (these are the ones with no spiral, no hard cover, just a cardboard cover). All students use at least 2 of these, if not more. 5 tubs of Clorox wipes 5 roles of paper towel Lots of colored pocket folders without the metal pieces in the middle 50 stamps Reading glasses 1.25 and above “Urban” books – students ask for these author’s (not exactly quality, but at least students read them) Donald Goings Terry Woods K’Wan Also these authors: Janet Evanovich Dean Koontz Feel free to donate any appropriate paperbook book for classroom library other than specific ones requested
