If donating time and talents is not an option due to an already busy life ... thank you for considering a supply drive to support our Agency.  As a non-profit, donations of items below reduce our expenses in purchasing these items.   Items listed in no specific order.

Stainless steel mixing bowls (all sizes) Whistling tea pot Paper towels Plastic utensils (forks, spoons, knives) Pens (black, blue, red ballpoint) Yellow highlighters Sharpie markers (fine point (all colors, especially black), extra fine point (black)) Notepads (regular and legal size) Post-it notes Napkins Folders (pocket - paper or plastic, solid colors) Gift cards (Target, Meijer, Michael's, Local coffee establishments, Dollar Tree) Model sets (easy to medium difficulty level - car, truck, boat, train) Large construction paper sheets Fleece for tie blankets (one - to - two yard pieces) Fleece for cat toys (remnant pieces) Greeting cards (Thinking of You, Birthday, Get Well, Sympathy) Scrapbooking supplies Small canvases (9x12") Lawn chairs - 10 total (quad-chair style) Tennis balls Party supplies (plastic table clothes, holiday themed plates and cups, birthday party supplies and decorations) Holiday and seasonal window clings Bingo prizes for adults (No soaps or food items, please; instead socks, magnets, reusable beverage containers, craft kits, sports-themed memorabilia, hats, mittens, holiday home decor, holiday office items (pens, pencils, notepads, purse items).

Volunteer: Recreation Program Volunteers

Want to be part of the fun ... while supporting and interacting with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities?  Volunteer to be part of our Recreation program!

Our Recreation Program is key to essential skill building, socialization, community inclusion, while promoting wellness and well-being.  Through a variety of events and activities - held both within our building and within our communities - individuals with disabilities pursue current interests and hobbies and explore new ones!  

A sampling of our activities include - theatre productions, concerts and shows, museums and zoos, sporting events, outdoor excursions, fairs and festivals, seasonal activities, arts and creative opportunities, holiday and themed events and cultural experiences.

Volunteers assist our staff in a variety of ways.  

During the week, opportunities generally start at 4:00-4:30 pm and last as little as two-to-three hours or may extend to four-to-five hours, based on the actual event/activity.  Saturday opportunities can be daytime hours or evening hours.

Portal, inc is a non-profit organization serving adults and transition-age high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

As an organization, we seek to enrich individuals' lives by developing each person's unique gifts, talents, personality and potential.  

Within our Adult Day Services individuals are supported as they learn about life skills and interacting with others while creating a purposeful and enjoyable day based on interests, needs and personal goals. Our Recreation & Leisure program promotes choice, wellness and well-being through socialization within the community.  Activities are based off the interests expressed by participants and provides respite for caregivers.

Both programs provide educational opportunities to enjoy current interests and hobbies, as well as explore new ones.
