Volunteer: Remote Volunteer Work for Aurora Health Care

Are you interested in making a positive impact on inpatients in our hospitals without leaving your home? We would love to have you on our team!  We are looking for volunteers to call inpatients while in the hospital to welcome them to our care, relay visitation guidelines and inquire how their stay has been.

Concierge Admission Program (CAP) include the following tasks for volunteers:

Remotely, volunteers call patients using a well-developed script and introduce themselves, inquire how their patient experience has been since they arrived and explains the hospitals visitation guidelines. If yes, volunteers will place these calls. If/when patients relay needs or concerns, we connect with nursing staff at the end of the patient call to assist in real time with the need/concern. If/when patients recognize staff for providing exceptional care, we send recognition emails to the staff members with a copy to their leader.

Advocate Aurora computer access is provided for all volunteers.

Volunteer: Children's Vision Screener for Fall Semester

Become a Certified Children's Vision Screener! Help us identify children with potential vision problems and set them on the road to healthy vision through children's vision screenings in your community.

Founded in 1958 by a group of dedicated volunteers, Prevent Blindness Wisconsin's mission is to prevent blindness and preserve sight in Wisconsin communities. We envision a Wisconsin where everyone enjoys a lifetime of healthy vision and we work toward this goal by providing free, direct sight-saving services, such as vision screenings, throughout the state.

Volunteers help with vision screenings at schools and childcare centers throughout Ozaukee County that otherwise do not have the capacity to screen the children at their schools and centers. All volunteers are required to attend a Prevent Blindness Wisconsin sponsored Children's Vision Screener Training. The training will go over how to vision screen school-age and preschool age children and the last step is to attend a short virtual volunteer orientation. The children’s vision screening certification is good for 3 years. No previous experience with health care or vision screenings is necessary. This is an opportunity for individual adults, teens and small groups (maximum size of 5).

Volunteers are required to complete and pass a background check and Children’s Vision Screener Training before volunteering. To sign up for our online training, please email Breanna at breanna@pbwi.org for the sign-up link.

Time commitment: Vision screenings typically take place on weekday mornings. Depending on classroom size, screenings take between 1 and 3 hours. Vision screening start in September and go through May.

Please contact Breanna Reckamp, Director of Operations, at breanna@pbwi.org or (414) 765-0505 to learn more and to sign up for a vision screener training.

Volunteer: Are You Ready to Make A Difference and become a Hospice Volunteer?

In the realm of compassion and care, few roles hold the significance and transformative power quite like that of a hospice volunteer.  It is experience that transcends the ordinary as you touch the lives of those in need with grace, comfort, and companionship.  Being a hospice volunteer is about dedicating your time and presence to others.  Whether through a gentle touch, a listening ear, or simply sitting quietly by their side, you become the steadfast support those facing end of life seek.  Volunteers can read books, newspapers, or magazines to patients or even share their own stories.  For patients who enjoy the company of animals, volunteers with trained therapy animals can visit and provide companionship.  Hospice volunteers who have served in the military can share their experiences with a hospice veteran and participate in a pinning ceremony.  Being a hospice volunteer is a calling that allows you to provide empathy, allow yourself to be vulnerable, and embrace the stories of each individual as they celebrate their life journey.  Are you up to this rewarding challenge?

Volunteer: Lily Hospice Companions (Grafton/Cedarburg area)

At Lily Home & Hospice, we strive to make the end of life as comfortable as possible for those we visit by providing care that is personalized to each individual. We emphasize our patient's quality of life instead of the duration and strive to make this experience more inclusive rather than isolated. Many hospice patients need and want someone to spend time with, and we are looking for compassionate, dedicated volunteers to give them that most basic of needs - human connection.

Lily Hospice Volunteers provide comfort and support through companionship, finding meaning in every moment. As a volunteer, you might spend time just talking, sharing stories and memories, listening to music or watching a movie, assisting with an activity or other non-medical tasks. There are also times to simply sit quietly with a patient to let them know they are not alone. We take our mission seriously, but we also have fun while partnering with our patients on their journey.

At Lily Hospice, we care for our patients in the comfort of their own home. For some, home might be a private residence, while others might reside in an assisted living or nursing facility/health center. Visitors are needed throughout the Grafton/Cedarburg area. We do take into account your location to assign visits that are within or near your own community.
