Volunteer: Becoming A Hospice Companion Volunteer Could Change Your LifeHorizon Home Care & Hospice is looking for a few beautiful souls to volunteer at our Lawlis Family Hospice In-Patient Unit, located on the second floor of Columbia, St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon. If you enjoy meeting new people and are interested in providing a helping hand to our compassionate nursing staff, then this may be the perfect role for you! As a Hospice Companion you will be well prepared to serve the needs of our patients and their families. As required, you should plan on 10-15 hours of orientation, broken out over several sessions and a few days. We will also provide you with training on direct patient care, so you are able to assist our nurses and aides with some essential functions at our hospice in-patient unit. You truly are, and will feel like, a part of the care team at Horizon's Lawlis Family Hospice. It should also be noted that our volunteer program is very flexible. Whether you are retired and have lots of extra time on your hands or you're extremely busy yet feel the need to give back to your community, we will make it work for you and your schedule.
