We anticipate a great need for trained therapy dogs when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. Get more information and consider training your dog now so you are ready when needed.
If you have ever wondered if your companion dog would make a good therapy dog, then this info session is for you! Our friends at Pets Helping People (PHP) will help you find out!
Dogs can be a remarkable source of companionship, inspiration and motivation but they also play an important role in promoting health, socialization and learning. While therapy dogs can visit in a variety of settings, they are especially meaningful to Allay's hospice patients by providing a social connection and an opportunity for reminiscing about one's own beloved pet.
PHP provides training for compassionate dog owners and their big-hearted dogs to go into the community to spread the love. Amy Dodge, PHP Exec. Dir, along with some of Allay's very own PHP-trained teams, will join us to answer your questions and provide guidance on what makes a "good" therapy dog, the training & testing process, and on-going support through PHP.
This info session is virtual through Zoom Meetings. Registration in advance is required!
